Usually, needle indentation method is applied to a high viscosity range around 1010 poise. This apparatus is a new type of needle indentation method and can be applied from molten state to solidified state in which viscosity varies from 103 poise to 107 poise. Viscosity is determined from a resistance exerting on the needle under controlled indentation speed.
